Red wine & FaceTime My girl's been dancing on the kitchen tiles Now everybody's making that chloroform by accident In quarantine since Friday the 13th And we're all masked up like Halloween Now everybody's making that chloroform by accident Got this bug you see that I'm trying to fix I heard bleach and alcohol do the trick Now everybody's making that chloroform by accident Might be 6-foot-separated bread lines for a long time But we're gonna be together again Try and get a breath of air Try and get some sushine We're gonna be together again Til then it's jug wine & FaceTime A lot more dancing on kitchen tiles Now everybody's making that chloroform by accident

about

From Devin:

It's March 2020 and we are all in quarantine. I'm one of those perversely fortunate people for whom social distancing has felt in some ways exactly like normal life, just a little more ... mandatory. Still, I never expected to find myself under quarantine just as I began making my home in a new city (Denver). I'm simultaneously at home and kept from home. There's a mask on a face. It's hard to recognize humanity many places I look. It's a liminal space. I'm not special in this -- we're all, in one way or another, making our pacts with uncertainty.

One place I'm not surprised to find myself during quarantine is at the center of a three-part Venn diagram mentally. Imagine three circles. The first circle holds people feeling a vulnerability or closeness to death that makes us uncomfortable. The second contains people under enormous economic pressure to survive as a bloated empire crumbles around us. The third circle holds people whose intuitions tell them to raise alarms about creeping authoritarian tendencies -- both within government and, even more insidious, within themselves. Quarantine for me has been about finding ways to exist in the little patch of mentality where those three circles cross -- to process, incorporate, and push back at the boundaries of all three as needed. It's ok to be all three.

These two songs are ways I've found to cope. There's a little humor, a little playfulness, and a lot of concern for the wellbeing of every person I've loved, no matter how briefly you may have been physically present in my life. In solitude my mind wanders and touches each and every one of you from time to time.

There are also beats that slap, because we all need to be DANCING right now.

Stay bright & creative. Thank u for listening.
